The Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a Full or Associate Professor (tenured) position focused on migration within the Global South. We seek a scholar whose work on South-South, Inter/Intraregional Migration strengthens one or more of our Department’s substantive themes and contributes to emerging geographic and thematic areas.

We welcome inter- or transdisciplinary approaches in the Social Sciences and Humanities. We seek to recruit in the fields of Anthropology, Geography, History, Literature, Politics, Sociology, and Cultural, Ethnic, Critical Race, Feminist, Gender, Latin American & Latinx, Media, Sexuality, and Urban Studies. We are particularly interested in applicants whose work engages popular culture, media/digital media, indigeneity, Afro-descendant communities and/or dissident sexualities.

We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through their research, teaching (including classroom), and service, and we encourage both domestic and international candidates to apply. The successful candidate will expand the research and curriculum profile of our recently launched doctoral program and will participate significantly in our undergraduate program. Candidates must be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.
